I am also running 200B struts on my 1200 Ute at the moment and there are some nice break upgrades for the 200B strut eg (Hilux 4 piston and Lancruiser calipers). Bolt on upgrades.

I'm wrecking a 180b. The struts and Girlock brakes are up on ebay now. I have all the other suspension components, lca radius rods. It will all be listed on ebay if it's any good to you.

the stanza struts are really too long to use in a 1200, same with sunny ones
so when you lower the 1200 to a reasonable height you run out of suspention travel. even more so if you run camber tops

all you really need to do to run 200b or 180b struts is cut off the original spring perch, as its too big for the 1200 strut tower..then weld on a stanza or sunny spring perch, or cut the centre out of a 1200 one so it fits on the struts

the only reason stanza struts are really used in 1200s is that you dont have to change the spring perch....but when you have to cut the strut tube down to fit shorter inserts you soon realise its easier/cheaper to change a spring perch

ideal strut would be a 240z one, as they have the small spring perches short shocks and bigger brakes than that rest of the datsuns of that time...pity its so hard to find them

i run 200b struts in my car, its rather low in the front and has camber tops (sit the car higher than what stock strut tops do so even less travel) but it still doesnt bottom out, unless the cars loaded up with people going round a corner then hitting a bump

thanks for info PIGDOG looks like i should have asked before i bought the bits only cost $ 60 for the lot so no great loss if i dont use why 180b / 220b i would think too big for 1200 ? do you use these on your `1200 and what advantage over stanza bits

you need to use:
stanza control arms
steering arms
ball joints
outer tierod ends
tierods (not really a need)
struts (would have gone for 180b or 200b) but stanza will work till you lower the car

then the 120y radius rods will bolt up to the stanza control arms if you enlarge the cutout for one of the balljoint bolts(have a look at the stanza ones next to the 120y ones and you will see) might even be able to use 1200 ones....as i think they are the same as 120y
stanza ones might work though, as sunny ones looked to be the right sorta shape and stanza stuff is pretty much the same, not really hard to just bolt it up and see how it looks
