yes there are some things to watch on a 1200 that aren't an issue on a 120y, did he have the roll center adjusters?

depends on how and what you do, also what wheels.

it can be done with good results.

to have good results the strut body is shortened also.

a friend had the S13 struts and brakes in his 1200 sedan - there were serious geometry issues. ie if you were reversing anywhere near full lock, it would just seize there - you had to go forward a bit and really force the wheel back to straighten it. couldn't se any signs of fouling on anything when it was seized, it just bound up on itself.

steering was very quick with the S13 arms though - probably part of the problem. I didn't look into it any further than that, but suspect it had bump steer and scrub radius issues at the very least.

highly unrecommended conversion

can't go wrong with the shortened s13 parts on the front, maybe the wilwood brakes if you want something extra. the rear, you don't need to do anything, but if you did, 200SX rearend, for the better diff mostly, you happen to get rear disks as a bonus...

Hay fat_120y, I am running silvia callipers and rotors on 120y struts in my 1200 ute. With 15x5.5 TRX alloys with 195/50/15's they dont scrub at full lock and pull up like a champ. Mine are 4 stud but the S14 or S15 silvia/200sx had 5 stud. Un sure on the rear though but my plan is a shortened R31 skyline diff. Whatever brakes come with it are only going to make stopping even better.

well not to sure to tell ya the truth..
its the real old model with square front end... twin headlights either side... anyway they r rear wheel drive and has a factory lsd.... good but not the best so i am replacing with a locked centre out of a later model. sorry if it doesnt answer ur question...

hey mate
in regards to ur question i am not a racer but am going through the same thing.
if u get the early model hilux diff, they r short as and dont need to be cut out at all. the drum brakes on the hilux are usually awesome. of corse they r still drum brakes but im not changing mine. the way i think is that hilux's are used for towing n sh-it.. so they can pull up a lil dato. as for the fronts. well atm i am using a standard stanza strut with stanze brakes.. they will stop but a definate upgrade is on the cards.. another drama u may come across is that they r two different stud patterns (5 on the rear and 4's on the front). i am getting the fronts changed to a five stud ford stud pattern (pretty sure its the same as a hilux). then will get an upgrade kit from hopper stoppers... they are awesome.
so keep me updated dude... im sure we will go through the same sh-it everywhere...
