i meant then try another insurer. some that send off your quote to an underwriting department may consider it if they know you currently have the car insured eleswhere but with third party. they figue if they are willing to take a risk, we can up their risk (and premium probably) and do a bit better to get your business in the door.

Vigil are ok. not shannons great but they serve a purpose.

They way i see it and would advise, if they are willing to odffer full comp and !0K agreed value, better then thrid party only and nothing. just make sure its all legit, last thing you want after these hassles is for them to deny a claim based on roadworthy and engenieering issues.

I think they prefer 3 point immobilisers and off street parking from memory (could be someone else im thinking of).

my daily driver rate worked out $10 more than limited use, took daily even though im lucky to drive it once a fortnight now. I dont want to be told (except by my wife) when i can and cant drive my car.

get the third party (assuming its probably with just cars). other insurers might take you a better risk if they know someone else insured you, especially owned by the same financial backers.... cough suncorp...

do u mean takeout third party then try 2 upgrade 2 full comp with the same company i took out the third party? eg sign up online n then phone up a week l8er n try 2 change?

cos i've been insured by other companies n had no claims... still hasn't helped me...

What's every1'sthoughts on Vigil?
any1 know anything bout em?
i'd neva herd o them till i phoned insurance ombudsmen but they r the only 1's willing to give me full comp (agree'd value 10k (won't go higher))

Good timing for this thread.....

I insured my ute yesterday with Shannons.
Mod's: CA18DET, 180SX front brakes, R31 diff, R31 fuel tank, Seats.

Limited use quote (3 day per week) - $424.32

Daily driver quote - $541.56

Agreed value of $15K.

It must be said though that I'm in the over 30's category.

Its just one of those strange things in life. I had some difficulty finding insurance for my 2001 patrol. It has had a chassis/cab extension, all legit, with plates and papers, but most companies dont want to touch it cause its modified. I had one mob say they would insure me if I lived in Sydney central, but not WA.
The funniest part is that I ended getting insurnace with a company that was underwritten buy another company that refused me! , but they will only insure it for current market value. They arent intested in the fact that it has about $25000 worth of mods done to it. (extensions and donk swap).
Insurance policies is just one of those things that unless you have worked in the industry, you will never understand. Keep trying, somebody should help you out.

BTW, slightly off the topic, but

Here in South Africa, the 1400 utes are considered high risk, Its amongst the Top 6 vehicles,
The Insurance premiums are ridicously high.
My UTE retail is 50000bucks, insurance every month is about 700bucks.

Old or New, the Datsuns/Nissan are worth stealin

I once had a 64 datsun bluebird around 2002.
No one could assist, however finally got hold of a member from a vintage and veterans club, and they pointed me out to few insurance companies.
Wasnt cheap though.

Try those guys out to point you in the right direction
