I think the popularity of SR's is because of aftermarket support, therefore making it cheaper and easier to get bigger power figures.
The FJ is a tougher motor though, they sound better too.

SR20's are just as good,there are heaps of bolt on's bits and parts are ezay to find...

but back in the day FJ's where the weapon of choice

To me an FJ20 seem like one mean mother compared to SR20's they have built an extrordanary reputation and their abilite to easily make power!

it got into the finals of off street racing by flogging heaps of tuff v8's then had to race theo wooletts drag skyline. dont need 3 guesses what happened then
