Hey there,
Firstly welcome to the club and good luck with your search for your first 1200.
My advice is to just be patient. Something will come up.
I just bought a 69 wagon(much rarer than the ute's) with a brand new spray job in a beautiful metallic blue, Body just aboout 100% straight except for very slight ding behind the rear bar, with a worked A14, twin side draught webbers, cam, extractors, exhaust, electronic ignition etc etc for only $2000!!!! All it needs is extensive interior work and a bit of a tune and she is apples!!!
It can be done and the car was in queensland too.
Once you have found your chariot and want to know the best ways to make it your own use the search button and the club wiki located on the left hand side of your screen.
Just about everything that has been done or will be done with a 1200 has been covered on this site before so just read read read. You will learn pretty quick what can be done easily and cheaply and with the most success.
My advice is to go the tried and true. There is a reason things have been done so many times you know.
Cheers Trav

I agree. Look for something in as good condition as you can afford.
It has always been possible to make a show car out of a $500 rusty bomb.. But it doesn't come cheap, and I don't think anyones ever been honest about the true cost of their 'budget buildup'.

i paid $2000 grand for my last one, but i took a long time to find and it still needed work but it suited me cos i was using it as a project heres a piccy of it when i first got it in the long run if you wait youll get them cheaper by chance. some may even say i paid too much some will say i got it cheap.its all personal opinion it also helps if you near a major city, esspecially adelaide. by the way where are you?
