most modern housings have a metal shield or other means to alter the light pattern to try not to blind the other drivers. some lamp housings can be tweaked to fix the RHD / LHD problem.

I think my lamps are the wrong sidages, the cut is on the passenger sider, or is on the lamp in the drivers side, maybe i just need to swap them.

that's the fun with those upgrade housings for the h4/9004 bulbs is they tend to be rather inconsistent and poorly labeled, this is the second set, the first ones were worse.

If you really want to change out the sealed beams, get good housings like from hella or someone.

I understand what you mean Steve, and had never thought about it before, but does that also mean that there is a left and right side lamp? Or do they both point equally in the same direction?
Cheers Mitchell

Beattie take a look at some headlights closely.
You will notice a pattern on the lense. RHD vehicles are fitted with headlights that aim the light a little to the left and viceversa for LHD. Its so oncoming traffic dont cop the full light in the face.

The beam cuts off different... you can aim them however you want but the shape of the beam is different between LHD and RHD light.

why would LHD and RHD have anything to do with the headlights? You can get them with the parker in the bottom from any auto shop. And i guess you could change that to a flasher easy enough and bin the parkers(no need for em in aussie conditions).

hey guys on the subject of headlamps i saw in a Mustang mag today they were advertising 7" round headlamps with either LEd indicator or park lamps in the bottom of the lamp...i though they might be cool if they are available to suit RHD cars. You could finally get rid of the horrible factory front combo

Square headlights became standard for the 1200 in 1989.

It will be easy to convert back to round headlights, in fact those are the only parts you'll be able to find in the USA.
