I think they are making a mistake, one of the key problem with modern cars is that they are disposable items, so you pay your bucks and get a car that will no longer exist in ten to fifteen years, with a bit of maintanence (not much) our Dattos are still going great after forty years and there is no reason why they wont be here after another forty.

People think these modern budget cars are good value, but when you consider the model it was replacing could end up doing three or four times the mileage for the same capitol outlay its a false economy.

The simple robust design of the A series powered Bakkie means it either doesnt break down, or if it does anyone can fix it.

By changing a longstanding popular design the car maker is denying the new car buyer the wealth of cheap 2nd hand parts available to the owners of the old model, which makes buying the new model less attractive.
