I would imagine that an A15 from a vanette would have a heavier flywheel than an A15 from a sunny. Same goes for a 1200 ute. In theory it should be heavier due to the commercial nature of the vehicle.

I remember measuring the A12 at 9.1 and an A14 one at 9.9kg.

I guess all our scales are probably not calibrated.

Yes, I forgot about that:

It should be a matched set:
Flywheel + Throwout bearing carrier + Engine back plate

Early A-engines don't use a back plate.

I have about 5 flywheels in the shed at the moment. 2 A15 and 2 A12 as I have given some away but the end result is the same for them all. 8.2kg. The main difference being that the A15 is deeper by approx 8mm which makes it a pain in the arse if you stick an A15 on an A12 gearbox because the clutch throwout is different depth also.

I've also heard of potential mismatches of flywheel and starter motor and backing plates with the A15.

Sorry I don't have anymore details on these facts.

In addition to the weight difference, flywheels from 1974 up have larger bolt holes:
1967-1973: 3/8 inch bolts
1974-2007: 10 mm bolts

As far as I remember with previous posts about the same subject, one of the members had A12,A14 and I think also a A15 flywheels. He weight them and I cannot confirm the weights but was as Dodgeman said. The bigger cc engines had heavier flywheels.
Very strange that your A14 one is lighter than a A12 one. Not really suppose to be according to posts that I read in the past.
Are you sure it has'nt been "played" with by a previous owner?
