D,

Just use a Fuego turbo motor and put the R18 pistons and sleeves in it. All the manifolds are made for you.
Personally, I have many renaults at home (several with the r16 motor) and I would not waste your time. Whilst they can make huge amounts of power with a light motor, there would be a huge hassle fitting a gearbox up to it, and they are rarer than you would think.
Just put in a Ca18 or SR20 - and save your money for the speeding tickets you will receive

Whats so goood about the toyota 2t engine?
Is any of the parts compatible with nissan engines?
I've got one lying in my backyard, got it with my 160u sss instead of an L16.

Renault built their reputation with these motors and the sierra cast
iron range also both using same architecture. Renault is the most
successful of the french makes and the most reliable and profitable
but not surprising when you consider citroen and pug lemons.

The late pugs and citroens are nasty things with gearboxes and
many other things playing up definately stay away from them
but in this case these 800 series engines are the bees knees and
are legendary in performance and reliability.

The 800 series are comparable to the toyota 2t and 3t motors
reliability and performance yet halve the weight.

This engine is the one that renault set its mark on worldwide and
the same architecture was used for the R5 turbos which in the
UK and europe are making over 500hp for short bursts with
40-50psi and 1.4 litres.

Anything after the R5 and 205 is pretty average even the 205gti
has headgasket issues but used the Mi16 engine not the hemi
crossflow of the past.

the 800 series come in capacities
1565
1596
1647
so D1kwagon you have a couple of choices if going this route.

Ill keep my eyes peeled out for some engines as they present
better value for money than the ay head.

Im interested to c if they can be approved for improved
production since Renault is the parent company now.

This was originally my choice of motor after studying a zillion
non pollution motors worldwide and for pollution non vtec
motors I chose the G13/15/16 series suzuki for power to weight.

If I end up going either route one day I can call my b10 a B10G
the G for Gordini or G series motor.

D, i did get that re the log vs equal length manifold, max power vs lower range, and i would probably just adapt a factory manifold myself for that reason.

personally i would not trust any french motor,

what they use to win rallys and the rubbish that actually goes on the road are 2 very different things.
I have had huge major breakdowns with a pug 306 last year, low km fully serviced and both the motor and trans and security system all fully failed. my gf was driving it not thrashed either, plus it bhad rattles and squeaks everywhere. I would never trust a french car or engine again.

geezus
so if i went this route i could have a motor that on the outside is 1600cc but internally 1800cc monster?
hmmm id like to keep the aseries but damn these motors are just to good
D if you see on for sale could you notify me or purchase it for me????
hmmm this motor mated to a toyota box sounds good
i dont think ill go to this extent BUT im thinking a nice turbo with fuel injection and full spark control is the go
these motors are 1600cc right D as i cant go anythin over 1600cc forced induction
