I have been asking around a fair bit and it seems to me that SR20 into a coupe is fine, well here in SA anyway. I have even been told if i'm gonna go to the trouble of putting in a new engine the SR is the better option than the CA (as has been mentioned below), both conversions are quite pricey.... im busy saving my pennies!

Man, you guys have it rough! Over here we can get certification for ANY engine, in ANY car. You just have to convince the engineer it's safe.

utes are different to coupes and it is still very hard to do an sr20det into a ute. there is a flaw in the sytem that says that if the utility vehicles need more power if they are towing/moving big loads so i think the vehicle has to be registered through a buisness and then you MAY be able to get it engineered

For the A and L you dont need to change the fuel system, the diff, for the A series you dont even need a custom tailshaft (I'm not sure for the L). You could even leave brakes and suspension alone initially....you don't even need to engineer an A15.

Depends if this guy has a garage full of tools and some fabrication experience I guess it could be a different story...but I would say there is a lot more work in an EFI big motor than a similar sized carby motor.


....unless of course you just meant if you are going to go to the trouble of the CA you might as well go the SR.....that I would agree with. There is plenty more stuff around for the SR than the CA and you can make plenty more power too.

Street legal SR20 Is it possible ?

i rekon if your gona go through the trouble of fitting in a bigger engine just go for the sr20 coz its gona be the same amount of work just a little extra cash but at least you will have a better engine that is stronger and will push more power with bolt ons.
