ive missed these posts and im blown away Lamps the old girl deserved ya! I always wondered how you where going and now I can see the NOS bits I collected are also coming together. The grille I brought back on my last honeymoon

Call me old fashioned but I also like 14 steelies painted black with thin low profile whitewalls and hubcaps like on volvo amazons and other chrome hubbies you can get for rods.





I used to run the same carbs and had a sep small tank above the carbs with no return line just a small float and a valve to stop extra fuel flooding the tank. I cant remember how I made it as it went to Sidedraught at least 10 years ago.
Would be nice if you can get an angled plenum made up with an outlet going to the front hole next to the headlight as I remember it had one from factory.


Also have you played with the jets on the Keihins?

yeh id be intrested i cant 100% guarantee they will bolt straight in without fouling on anything but i have the same style on my gx motor in my 1000 wagon (may even be the same brand)

or a decent manifold,
there are some later A14/15 manifolds that flow a treat, look a little like a GX shape, but have a single 3 bolt flange, instead of the twin pipe,
but they fit good and flow well.... i don't have the dyno sheet, but "reliably informed"

and yay for somebody posting specs for what they did to tune the carbs,

seems everybody looks for info, gets them done and nobody says what they did...

yep that was one of the ideas i had, but i would still have to make a return line to the tank from the engine bay surge tank the the fuel tank i think.
I wonder if i just made the return line connect back up to the suction of the pump? might have to do some experimentation

are you willing to sell the extractors?

perhaps you would be best to make a surge tank like thing in the engine bay above the carbs that the fuel pump can pump into then the carbs get there fuel from there?
also i think i have a set of extractors to suit a 1000

Yeah extractors would be great but having trouble finding a set that fit. No one can tell me for sure what fits.

One little tip for people contemplating this conversion is that bike carbs can't be fed from a fuel pump, they must be gravity fed.

I couldnt get it to run right for hrs until disconnected the stock fuel pump and just connected the line up to the tank. It is lucky in a 1000 wags that the fuel tank is high enough to allow gravity feeding. I think ill only be able to use 1/2 of the tank though. Ill have to sort out this issue later.

Jet settings to get it to run right
pilot jet - drilled from 0.68mm to 0.9mm
main jet - drilled from 0.98 to 1.10mm
just in case anyone wants to use the same carbs

i hope some pipes are next to get the most out of those carbs

Ok bit of an update
Put the cb900 keihins on this weekend. Was a bit of a bitch to get them to run right but succeeded in the end.
Has quite a lot more power than the stock carb and great throttle response.

The manifold is made out of 304 stainless, tig welded together.

still need to find some air filters or make a air box

Yeah jellies for sure, maybe a bit wide at
the front BUT it is hard to get wheels right
on the front of a 1000 without flares.
