I recomend mothers too, cause after they polish you wheels, they can cook dinner, clean the house and then iron your shirt for work the next day if need be.

Im about to embark on the boof head method as i want a shiny finish.. going 400 600 800 then 1200... buff with a cutting compound then buff with a polish. The ct28 metal polish truckies use isnt bad either... they swear by it and all the chrome and aliminum i have seen on trucks still looks good after all those miles.

If im happy with the 800 finsh i wont boter excepet for a light 1200 sand.

What exactly are you polishing? If it's piping or something similar you need an attachment that goes on to a bench grinder aand looks like a lambs wool buff pad does an excellent job, wheels or something of that nature you get an attachment for a cordless drill or power drill so that can get in all the nooks and crannys.

Mothers make a good polish that works well on stainless, alloy and aluminum, i recommend it!

just go and get a cold chisel greatest hits album and polish away. you never know you might end up a weirdo like me who actually enjoys polishing quietly in the garage lol.

aquire a case of man up and start the monotonous task that is polishing.
Best technique ive used...
Jack the rear of car up
SECURE stand, block the front.
Attach wheel
hose
turn car on and put in first
wet sand paper on wheel and hose every couple of turns to keep wet
datslatherightthere

Hours hours hours later you might get something like this

EDIT: just realised that you didnt actually mention it was a wheel lol

In my first detailing job we would use Cutting Compound the real deal stuff you use for buffing cars. Get it from an Automotive paint supplies shop you can dilute it with water to lessen the cut. Then use a cut and polish or Autosol to buff it right up using flannelet rag or ya old flannys from last winter.
There Is No Easier Softer Way,
Been there done that just did a full circle.
