Steves Wheels here in Melbourne usually has zillions of them in all sizes. Havent been there for a while but heres their contact if you want, otherwise I would get josh from Okinawa to find you some Watanabe RS they usually are very cheap over there.

yep definitely a Carnell convert. I'll be back next year for sure.

D, I had a set of hotwires on my last coupe. http://datsun1200.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=4810 Back then it was easy to pick up hotwires and stuff in old ford fitments and redrill them, but they're getting hard to find up here like any other old/clasic mag wheel.

Tom, There are similar hotwire wheels in America, I think they are American racing brand. They seem to be common on the Z cars over there.

Edit; They are Shelby Mesh rims

Discussion on wheels here

It was the #53 coupe I was looking at, so it would appear I have Hotwire wheels on my car................smuggled to Vegas in the belly of a Quantis 747 maybe or USA copies of Hotwires.

I have moulds of the flares , they are only good as a race car flares as they arent the best mould, flares came from a mate who had a 1600 , they are front Flares off a 1600 , but they also fit on the opposite side on the rear if you fit them to the rear guards of a 1200 ..

Hotwires are some of the lightest budget wheels ever made,
they are daggy and can be had next to nothing but with your setup and driving ability it should make a slight difference without 15-20kg all round unsprung weight.
Id say 150aud for a set is too expensive, but depends where you are and how many are floating around as you couldnt give them away a few years ago.
5kg a wheel might not sound like much as unsprung weight but when I look at my old rx7 s5 I was surprised for such a heavy thing it had alloy hubs and nifty calipers which everyone uses for third party upgrades.

Great photos! Those flares on Camerons dato are the same ones I have, I bought mine second hand so knowledge on where to get another set would be nice.

yep, only thing Superlite about those wheels is the name. They now also make a competition only use lightweight version of the superlite, which is apparently about 5kg lighter in the 15*8" size! Almost makes buying a new set of wheels justifiable...

But a new set of wheels would be 3/4 of the way to buying a set of full slicks which should put me in contention for outright honours at Carnell and attempt a class record at Mt Cotton. Lighter wheels would be nice, but lucky to make any measureable performance gains. They look alot tougher in the new 8 spoke style though.. and it would be nice to have the slicks mounted on a different set of wheels so I could swap easily for different events... yep, I think I've nearly got myself convinved to buy a set!

someone buy my wagon!!!
