Well yesterday was her first track event, racing is Marque class which is only "75 and older full street legal cars, were 9 cars in the running, My 1200 which is totaly of era with rebuilt but otherwise stock suspension, was up against a 911 RS, Alfa 1750, Lotus Cortina, Escort Mk1, Escort Mk2 as well as a Gordini and a Dart coupe... Was very nervous hoping not to come last as the Porsche was the only other one running street tires but amazingly enough on a 2.4km very technical track I ran a 1.25 which was the fastest in the class, followed by the lotus cortina doing a 1.26 (on slicks) and the rest of the guys doing 1.30's... Wow, that datsuns handeling for a old car is just amazing, its one of the most forgiving cars ive ever had the pleasure of owning, even got the front tire off the ground in the one hard corner with only 185 kumo street tires... lots and lots of fun till the last lap where the 5sp box locked in 4th, tried for ages to unlock it but eventualy drove it home locked in 4th and dropped the box for the trans rebuilder to look at tomorrow,
To top it off, I am just stunned that stock suspensioned 1200 on street tires can actualy corner like that, best thing, after 30 laps i think it only took 2mm odd of rubber off the tires!

Oh how i miss the sounds of N/A A series! The turbo really does take the rasp off any exhaust note.
Congrats on a nice project build. but don't ever say the 'f' word when you're talkin about dattos. Finished.

When you say 'all 52' does that go for the primaries as well.

That really does sound fantastic. It must be very rewarding.
The car looks very nice too.
Is this a straight through exhaust system?
