Yeah....

I didn't mean every single datsun, perhaps I should have said something like 'rust in the doors is one of the most common rust prone areas'.

I'd go it if I had the cash & space. Worthwhile holding onto.

While we're on the topic of rust (or there lack of) & 120y's, there was a book called worlds worst cars or something or rather and the 120y was in there, the caption said the vehicle was an outstanding performer but it had serious rust issues. It was printed in the UK, bit of a rough title for a book as much of it was actually complimentary to the models that were covered.

Engine bay is nice and clean, higher res pics would be good though.

hmm maybe where you live they all have rusty doors, but they are easy enough to find rust free around here.

For me that car's one saving grace is that its auto. I still wouldnt pay $1500 for it though.

u could not get a average one and get it up to that condition for 1500$ all up, and if u did it would not be worth as much as the genuine 72000km baby.

Datsuns & rust go hand in hand. The quality of the steel, sealing and drainage-design of particular components aren't enough to keep the water off and out.

The doors are always rusty in the corners. This seems to be the only 'reported' rust so we can assume that there aren't any other major scary parts.

I still think $1500 is a good price. My oath it is!

Bet i could find rust in any datsun un restored of any vintage. Especially when you start to dig out seam sealer and sound deadener/tar from engine bays etc. Just always hope for the least amount.

Any rust = fail in my book, IMO there's enough 120Ys around without rust that you dont have to bother with those that do. But I guess thats because I'm in Canberra, and thats why my last two rust free 120ys have ended up in QLD and VIC.

edit: And I sold them both cheaper than that one on ebay.

rust... fail.

Not much rust mentioned really.

It looks like a good deal, regardless of your past observations of similar incidents/sales.

rust... fail.

A very similar one (same condition, same colour) sold for $500 from a dealer near me recently. I would have bought it if it didnt have the rust.
