When you snap off a tension rod, be sure to check the front mount for damage. Many years ago the former wife ran off the end of an autocross course into a ditch with the brakes on full. Snapped of the castor rod just like yours. Put in a new tension rod only to find that the caster was off on that side. Inspection if the front tension rod mount showed that the flat mount plate in center of the mount was bent back 1/4" in the center. Had to have a machine shop turn down 1/4" of the tension rod behind the front threaded portion so I could pull the wheel forward to where it belonged.
