Hi 1000Coupe

Thank you for taking the time and effort to reply and advise me on my restoration. You will be pleased to know I have decided to go with the vinyl on the roof and boot lid as it was when I originally purchased the "little darling". I appreciate the tip of the floor wax. I make a great polish( for my bowls) from bees wax and gum turpentine which I imagine would be similar and do a good job as it is really only a water proofing polish. I will use the floor polish to start and maybe later.... the bees wax polish.
Cheers Learner / Michael

Hi learner and welcome,
Changing a roof is no small job, it is the backbone of the car and when u cut it off all pillars will sag inwards and need supporting, then u have the lead joins and the poisonous dust u grind to deal with.

without seeing it i think it would be easier to panel-beat the areas in need of work. especially if u r putting a vinyl roof back on.

I worked at Australian Motors Mitsubishi panel shop when the first magnas were new and there were heaps of faults from the factory on the first cars and a common one was the roof, but it was easier to fix the roofs on the car than to replace.

another tip is i had a vinyl roof on a 76 fairlane marquis with cream vinyl roof. I used armor all which looked ok but needed doing often, then learned of using floor wax instead, it looks just beautiful and stays that way for at least a year.

"Bump" in threads is a no-no. It means the poster is trying to get someone's attention by adding one word to the topic so that it will again show in the "recent comments" list.

What you can do is add additional details and so everyone will have the chance to read the new information. Post a pic is always an attention grabber.

Hey mate, wouldent emagine a coupe roof would be easely come buy. you might be best to put a WTB add (want to buy) in the clasifides section, for a roof or a wreck with a good roof?

Everything your affter is out there it just takes some patience sometime's.. Good Luck!
