I went from the short spear style to the long spear style (like 1600) by cutting down the back of the indicator so it would fit the hole that was there.

Yeah some quality masking tape not reject shop crap. Done right you wont need to touch anything up. Air powered grinders are good for this or die grinder, nibbler is a bit brutal in my experience.

hey guys ive been looking for ages for early datsun 1000 guard indicators without success so im left with having to cut the rectangle hole longer to fit the later ones. how do i do this without damaging or chipping the paint. mask it and use a hacksaw blade? i have no idea
