A welded differential in a street driven car is illegal, unwise & unsafe.
They also screw up axles, as you have found.
If all you can get from an axle is 12 months, then you will need a good supply if you plan to keep the car for very long.

Have you pulled the other axle? I would not be surprised if you find that the end is being screwed off that one too.

Many of us that have spare axle shafts will be quite reluctant to sell to someone who runs a welded diff as it could be seen as a total waste of a perfectly good, but difficult to source axle shaft that could otherwise provide decades of service to someone who drives a roadworthy [street legal] car.

It's taken 12mths of punishment, think it's done pretty well.

Most i've spoken to are fairly suprised it broke.

Just out of curiosity, are you running a welded locker?

If so, you had better buy up all the axles you can find. Sooner or later, you would be needing them.

I have a 120y hitachi diff taking up space. Not sure if its an h165.
