I just use the VHT stuff. The can cost something like $18-$19 from memory, but I got plenty of use out of it.

you can get Hylomar in a spraycan too Chris...

Hey Thanks Bart,

Yeah the Hylomar was a little too difficult to apply evenly as it hardens once exposed. So an Aerosol would be tops. Could you recommend a brand name of the copper gasket spray? otherwise I'll just try the one the shop recommends.

Chris

You can buy Copper head gasket cement in an aerosol can. Thats how I glued the shim on my engine.

Anyone keen to wind up their boost?! (safely)

I have a 2mm shim here and a 3mm shim for someone to test out (78mm bore).

Would prefer someone who knows what they're doing as I don't really want to deal with an engine failure due to lack of technical savvy. Also looking for some decent technical feedback, I.E; relevant comp ratio, fuel (octane rating), engine specs and boost pressure, and some notes on it's general performance. I can provide accurate figures for the additional introduced volumes.

One shim is un-used and the 2mm shim has been used with a safe 8:1 comp ratio on a NA engine, removed properly so it's nice and flat. Both items are mild steel.

PM me for details, I guess if it works out well and you like it you can hang onto it (on the grounds that you provide me with some quality feedback).

I can assist with some pointers on installation and gasket adhesive to save you the hassle (adhesive is Hylomar - I have a tube here somewhere) etc as I personally installed one of these on my NA engine.

Cheers.
Chris
