DD, that thin flat metal bar sticking out is the actuator for the momentary switch, in reverse gear the gear lever is pressing against it and completing the circuit for the reverse lights.

Great to hear that you didn't get dic at dse they gave me 2 cause was end of the box and they wanted to open a new box instead of leaving one in there. I would have opened new nix and chucked the other in it. I don't care 2 for 1

that seems to be alot of work to drill and tap a hole in the case i'm not really confident in doing that, good idea though! i'll go and have a look for a switch tomorrow, thanks for everyones help!

If you are very keen and dont mind pulling off the rear case of your dogleg box, you can drill and tap and fit a landrover reverse switch at a right angle to the factory switch. This only works for the dogleg box.

yeah i suppose we cant discrimante on your preferences. ;)

yeah just the same 2 wires. just read back through the earlier few pages and it shows the type of momentary switch. just go look for them. the metal bar is a little bendable so you can fine tune it.

now thats cool! what type of switch is that? how hard is it to wire it up? does it just hook up to the existing reverse switch wires?
