ok so the progress has been going slow over christmas, but at least its been sent off to get the rollcage fabricated

sounds great, will have to do it one day!

avalon is insane, smooth and wide like a freeway but dirt, i would be happy to dive a reasonably nice road car on that surface

yeah we do the VCAS rounds and sometimes the club ones aswell, kyneton is one of my favorite tracks but we havent done avalon yet.

nice, have you done any autocross before?, i quite like avalon and kyenton tracks, used to go to them a bit when i had my turbo a-series years ago

The car will be used for autocross and we might do a rally one day.

very cool, but unfortunately you wont be allowed to rally with the L16, at least not CAMS run rallys but there is a AASA series gradually growing that may allow it.

I thought it was about time to start up a thread for my datsun project,
We bought the 1200 to do autocross and the occasional rally, We paid $100 for it, it had heaps of rust and it came with alot of parts. We have spent alot of time on it so far and we have have done:

*L16 conversion
*Stripped the engine bay of body deadner
*Fabricated a new tunnel for the 5 speed
*Fixed all the rust
*Fabricated the seat mounts

A 6 point cage is going in and the whole car is getting painted white
We are trying to finish the fab work so it can be painted soon

It is going to have 180B brakes and stuts with coilovers on them and standard leaves with adjustable shocks on the back
