The best way to do it is to fit an AE86 LSD centre to the ute H165 housing/axle assembly. See http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawi ... x.php?title=LSD#AE86_Swap

also is the bolt pattern for the tail shaft the same as the datto? and same length or is a custom tail shaft needed?

Toyota T-series is 170mm ring gear.
* 170 with 24mm axles (early)
* 170 with 25mm axles (late)

must be the late one then if its the 85-87 one as thats what it says in the Wiki and most online sources meaning the 170mm 25mm axles are close to the H165 ones? anyone know the thickness of H165 ones?

well i really have no idea of which of those 3 i used i just know it was a jdm spec ae86 diff maybe the kouki version (85-87)

Nice writeup.

Keep in mind there are at least three different AE86 rear axle assemblies:

S-series 162mm diff
T-series 170mm diff with 24mm axles (same as H165)
T-series 170mm diff with 25mm axles (1985-up GTS)
