Too many house moves, work commitments and other projects means it needs to go.
This vehicle is constructed using the chassis dimensions of an original 1962 Lotus 7. It's external dimensions are identical to the original vehicle as is its general layout and appearance. It is constructed using 1.6 x 25 x 25 ERW steel tube as the main members and braze welded using nickel bronze as the original chassis were. The chassis has been modified to provide additional strength and a better ergonomic layout so average sized people will fit, unlike the originals which were built for munchkins. (I'm a hefty 180cm with size 10's and fit quite well.) The skinning is aluminium which is riveted to the frame. The fibreglass panels etc are moulded from original panels. The colour is unmarked 2 pak 'Kodak Yellow'.
What does this have to do with Datsun 1200's you say?
Easy, most of the mechanicals are from a datto 1200.
A14 engine and 60 series smooth case gearbox (unused Jap import since the early 1980s)
1200 axle and rear brakes with shortened tailshaft with alloy 1000 centre (4.1:1 gears)
1200 pedals and upper steering column (both modified)
1200 wiring loom which has been added to
1200 sedan fuel tank, handbrake mechanism
Other specs are:
Double wishbone front suspension with solid discs brakes
Steering rack with collapsible column
Six link rear end double trailing arm and watts link
Bias adjustable brake master cylinders and quick shift gearlever
4 of 14x6 alloy wheels in satin black powdercoat (mint)
Components needed to finish:
F & R shocks and springs
Tyres and battery
Seats, belts and alloy bonnet
Windscreen, mirrors, lights and a roll bar
Exhaust and induction system
Bibs and bobs
Almost all the parts fitted to the vehicle are either new or have been completely refurbished.
This project has all the hard work done and needs completing by a person with good all round mechanical and fabrication skills. It is not for a beginner. The vehicle is well engineered and has been built to a high standard. It comes with a some spares (will not separate).
What can you do with it?
This vehicle would not comply with the current ICV (Individually Constructed Vehicle) regulations in many areas so it cannot be Registered in Australia.
The vehicle may be able to be registered as a "Lotus 7 Replica" under Club registration in Victoria. You need to do your own research on this and make your own decision. Attached are a couple of links to various websites you may like to refer to.

We know a datto with a strong A14/15 is quicker than many people think it would be. If you subtract a couple of hundred kg and add some decent steering and suspension it may be a lot more fun.
