Well I might rule out the blow thru from my setup, seems like alot of stuff around for my carb, and buying the whole efi setup would be cheaper then buying a good carb and setting it up for boost.

But boxing then in equalises the pressure outside the Carb and all is well. You have to run stronger fuel floats too cos the metal ones collapse

The top hat and the shaft usually can't hold positive pressure, you seen how dirty they get on just vacuum?

Why do you need to box them in?, Do they have vacuum fittings that leak or something?

32/36 no good for blow through if not boxed

You can get around a rising rate the cheapily with a jobs pressure switch and solenoid

Water or merge injection has removed the need for an intercooler on suck through

Most people who carby turbo an engine end up running Ecu for good reasont

No need for chopped wheels if using batch fire injection, only needed for over the top sequential

Starions are efi

If you put the surge tank in the engine bay you don't need to upgrade fuel lines under the car, just run a second stock line as a return

Get a lift pump from a bluey at the wreckers for $20

1a. Yes, I've seen Frankthedolphintrainer's ute work alright with a boxed in 32\36. The problem is linking to the carb when it is boxed and it can develop leaks.
1b. yes
1c. Maseratti had a carb suitable for blow through I think, didn't starion turbos use a blow through carb? Sigma turbos as well?
2. Yes, easy as piss
2a. illegal? everything is illegal in Australia, but because an intercooler would cool down the pressurised fuel it would puddle and you blow yourself up F&F style
3. meh
4a. considering the mechanical pump will only work with the crank I doubt it, no not really. Just go a nice electric pump.

I am biased towards the easiest setup as it is easier to fault find and get right.

Hey I have been looking at turbocharging my a12 as an alternative to the L20B swap, I can make my own manifolds so it could end up excessively cheap for me. I have a few questions for the experienced. I am looking at all options at the moment for fuel delivery so don't mind the conflicting questions.

1. Blow through

1a. I think I read some where previously that a 32/36 weber is well set up standard for a blow through setup?, is this correct, what modifications would I need to do to make it work?.

1b. Will I need a rising rate regulator?, if so what setups have you guys run?.

1c. Otherwise what is a good alternative carb for a blow though setup.

2. Suck through

2a. Is it illegal in Australia to run a suck through setup with an intercooler?, Plenty of racecars used to run this, not sure why it would be so bad except in the event of a crash. Obviously a blow through would be better, but depending on price I would look closely at this.

3. EFI

3a. Anyone know anything about getting an easy to adapt crank angle sensor for an a12? I was thinking of running an EFI setup with quad injected throttle bodies from a gsxr-600 suzuki bike, pretty easy for me to adapt them as I can make a manifold to fit them, and they have a similar port size to most small engines(38mm with a slight taper down). I would use a microsquirt for this so nearly any crank angle sensor would do, just wondering if there is any that fit with bugger all modification.

4. Other random questions.

4a. Would a standard a12 mechanical fuel pump used as a lift pump fill a swirl pot quick enough during continuous use to feed a aftermarket pump feeding whichever carb. I know it would before boost but what about during prolonged boost periods, It seems like a possibly dumb idea to me as it could result in failure, but could be an alternative to running an inline lift pump and an feed pump aswell.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers in advance.
