If you could show us a side on shot of the whole gearbox, it'd help. The stumpy box also has the speedo output on the left hand side of the box, or at least the one I've got has, while the longer B/Bird boxes have them out the right hand side.

The rear says 5W71C. Which might be same gearset as 71B (many, many ratios were made).

71C is stronger than the 71B and came out in mid 1980s i think.

Is it a full length box? is that your reason for sale?

The 71C gearset is stronger. The shifter presents like a full length box, in which case your gear stick would be a bit further back.

Yeah that's what I've been reading, sounds like a ca rear gearset with the l/z front, was thinking it was more like a r30 stumpy but seems not so ill be putting it up for sale would be a good strong box for an l series as its only a tad longer but strong as hell!

LZ means it fits either L or Z series motors, also will fit a ka series motor and can be modified to fit ca.

Question for you. Is that lz71b crap stamed before the sandwich plate?, because I thought what is written on the rear conflicts with the front, the rear says 71C which means the better gearset. I might be wrong with that tho, as I am no expert.
