Yeah, thats what I thought you meant. I would rather weld it up myself.

Thanks for the interest. By fully welded, what i really meant was a welded strut end with a threaded end connection as an assembly rather than a kit of parts that you have to weld up yourself

I'm keen for a strut brace - would prefer the parts not to be welded though.

Okay fellas. I am trying to get interest in these strut bars again. I can get you a fully welded bolt on strut brace for pretty cheap. Talking to a local welding shop and my fabrication cost is good. Not trying to make a business here. Just making these parts as a hobby with a little profit. So i will ask again, anyone keen on a strut brace for their 1200?

Thank sir. I will send a cardboard prototype to you when the Water pump cover plates are ready.

Anyone local to Toowoomba?

I plan on welding continuously on each side of the vertical bracket. And it does not cantilever off of the base. By leaving a decent size gap between the supports multiple types of strut brace bars could be used including rod, flat steel, etc... Just trying to make it versatile

Don't meant to harp on the design, but it doesn't look very strong in regards to the plates that the cross bar bolts to.
When I drafted up my brace ends, I got input from SW and added bracing to the uprights to relieve the stress on the welds.

Even after this render I wasn't too happy with the design so I didn't end up getting it made.

I have made a 1:1 scale cardboard template.

But without a 1200 I cannot test fit it.

Any volunteers?

So a rough estimate would be around $60 or $70 a set depending on final finish. Obviously powdercoating will have higher costs than just coating them with a spray can. I am not sure if people would prefer a final completed strut top end for $70 or a "DIY" kit with just 6 pieces of mild steel for $35 ??

Anyway here is the design that I have come up on my own in 3d. Do you think it is worth doing this again? I would need everyone to pitch in before I pull the trigger on laser cutting. I would also need someone to test fit a few prototypes.

(can admin please move thread to Main Forum?)
