Pretty sure he just means the type of nut that's retained by a clip or something so it can't turn or fall out. A dob of weld on your nut or bolt to the plate (depending on which you want to be captive) achieves the same thing. Makes assembly much easier.

Can you explain that a bit more mate? Have any photos?

In the US we don't have engineers for cars. It is up to me to build it correctly.

If you could put captive nuts on the plates in the cabin & attach these plates to the floor, it would be easier to bolt the gearbox in, & I'm sure whattever engineer you go to would like it a bit better.

There are photo's in the techwiki in the 5spd section fairly sure.
Coincidentally I was looking at them last night.

I used a length of 50x6mm flat bar and drilled mounting holes through floor for bolts with plates on top for strength, adjusted height of gearbox to get prop shaft angle right with spacers between flat bar & gearbox mount.

One thing that keeps me up at night is trying to figure out how to mount my 60a 5speed gearbox on the vanilla ice project.

It doesn't really matter that its a 5 speed the problem is that the factory mounts have been removed by the previous owner.

Has anyone had this problem before?
