Are you sure ? I could be wrong...

I have read differently, but then again this info could be not nesscessarily 100& accurate either.

A Skyline S50S model year upgrade was introduced in April '64, with an all new Skyline GT(S54) in May. The S54 featured a 106 hp G7 OHC inline six with a 1988cc displacement.

66 2000GT
The Skyline GT got a carb option in September of '65 with the introduction of the GTB(S54B) package. The G7 engine got the triple Weber side draught treatment, bumping the horsepower up to 125hp. Designation now became GT-A 2 barrel carb or GT-B webers.

69 GC10 2000GT

The line didn't get much of a change until after Princes merger with Nissan. From July to September of '68, the New C series Skylines were introduced. The first was the New C10 1.5 liter G15 powered 1500 Sedan, with the Skyline 2000GT(GC10) G18 1815cc engine following.

1969 Skyline 2000 GT-R

Then came the first of the Skylines that would form the Skyline Legend, the Skyline 2000 GT-R. Introduced in February 1969, the GT-R(PGC10) benefited from the development of the R380 program. This car was powered by a S20(not to be confused with the later SR20DET) in line DOHC 6 cylinder, 24 valve, twin cam triple 2 barrel side draught monster, developing 160 horsepower at 7000 rpm and racing to a top speed of 200 km/h.

Cheers

The S20 engine came in the 67 Skyline from Prince, which Nissan bought (i heard) mainly for their engine know-how.

The first US Z was the S30 body type (240Z) with only the L24 engine. Previously we had the 311 Fairlady (Datsun 2000 roadster).

there are OS Giken DOHC heads for both 6 cyl (as mentioned) and 4 cyl L series motors. I think feral eral's site has some pics.

Nissan motorsport department also made a twin cam 4v per cyl head for both 6 (as mentioned) & 4 cyl motors. The 4cyl version was known as a Lz motor.

Some of those Lz twin cam heads made it to Australia on works rally cars 710's in the late 70's to take on the BDA Escorts. These were driven by George Fury and a Scandanavian driver whose name I cannot remember. They were also used on the subsequent works Stanza rally cars. Phill Morriss got hold of one or two of them and was using the Lz head for several years on his awesome 2.4l L20 1600/510 Improved Production car that still holds class records at some tracks more than 12 years later. A few years ago he changed to FJ power, probably for costs and parts availability.

The engine in the 432 is not a weird version of the L series, it is designated 'S20' and is a completely different engine used only in the domestic Japanese market as far as I know.

Thanks to Benny, the picture of the 432 engine is there, posted , to check out. It is cool, twin cam . Thanks for that treat. I wonder how many people own this car, thinking it is just the average "Z".
The cyl head dimlight talks about , I think it is the one dgonzal mentioned, the Giken, or something like that. There is suposed to be one for a L 4cyl engine too, but, where inside Japan?

I watched "High Performance Imports 5" DVD last night. It had a OS Giken twincam head for the 6 cylinder L Series. It looked pretty mean. If I can borrow the DVD from my brother, I'll capture a picture of it.

I've never heard of this strange L20 6 cylinder. Mucho cool.

Chris.

Yes, I have that book, and there is a cyl head(I do not have the book w/ me right now, not at home)... made for L series engines, twin cam, but it was for competition only, never a production cyl head( I will bring in the exact code/number for that Cyl head)...in the case of that 432 "Z" car, it was a production sold car, I wonder what it looks like.

I saw somewhere, it was in "How to Hotrod and Race Your L-series Datsun" I believe, that there was in fact a twin cam head for the L-series six cylinder. Rare as hen's teeth! I don't remember if it was a factory thing or not though. Looked sweet!
