Hey Andrew, I have 4 daughters so I know whats its like to feel like you have to let go of you passion for a while. I did that but its the worst thing I ever did. Keep your coupe on the track as it has legendary status....and the more you learn, the more we all learn. I can see that things kicking a HRT car as far as lap times.

Thanks for the plug 1200 converted and to think Ive nearly sold it. The misses is having our second child was planing on getting a 1200 wagon for work with My ca18. After reading that I should pull my finger out and put it back together and hit the track. Bugger the expense As it lays at the moment another $5k should see it on the road again the way I want it.
It was fun in the passenger seat with john at the wheel spun me out how fats it could take some of them corners even in the wet.
I have some big rims 15x8 rear and 15x7 front for it now and should be able to get some serious slicks under the bum to get some of the 400hp to the tarmac.
Cheers Andrew

Good to hear Jeffs beast will eat the dinosaurs. Dont forget if you get tired or want an extra datto to play to try a 1000.
A rotary version 1000 SS set the fastest lap record a lakeside a couple of years ago.

John over the years has built race winning club cars with each "evo" having vast improvements on the other. For example EVO 5 has a holden banjo rear diff case with a modified Porsche centre allowing a live axle rear to have a 4 degree negative camber. This takes out twichiness in high speed mid corner passes (Eastern Creek turn1). 3J club car does not allow IRS unless the car had it in production. Got to the link for more photos on the EVO5 Evo 5 photos

Mate,

Good to hear that you've been converted.

I had a ride in Andrews Coupe that day at Oran Park, in the wet it was a lot of fun.
It was inspiration for me to do more on my 1200. His main problem on the day was a broken cam angle sensor, plus his timing was all over the place due to a late night engine rebuild, the night before.

Hopefully there'll be a few more fast 1200s around soon.

Cheers,
Chris.

As my log in name suggests that I have been converted....
I have raced Formula Ford and they are quick little cars designed only for one thing that is racing. Now these things can cost up 100k in Australia and you would need a budget of 200k to compete in the national series. But with the 1200 you can have just as fast lap times with a car that cost 10k and a budget of 10k per year go figure!!!! Ive have just bought a 1200 sedan from John Boston who has raced and or driven anything from V8 Supercar though his connections through Ian and Warren Luff, Formula Ford Zetec's, Porsche GT3 etc etc and he said to me that he has not driven anything more formidable around Oran Park than Andrew Denis' 1200 CA18DET 1200 coupe. He said it was sideways all the way from the left hander coming onto the straight all the way to the pit entrance. Andrew then told him the engine was down 60hp on the day due to water injection not working!!! I have gotten into the real world of 1200 coupes. All we need to do is state the facts and move on from these discussions. We need to prove to the rest of the world these machines kick serious ass. Watch out for John Taylors EVO V 1200 coupe Motec A15. It should do close to 40secs flat at Oran Sth circuit which is V8 Supercar time!!! All I could see beating these thigs would be a Formula 3000 or greater...and spend $1m on the car. You can go spend the money we dont mind just leave us alone to beat you where it counts.....on the track. Thanks to Teretonga for your patience until I eventually came around.
