You mainly get understeer, due to front lift and momentum But it was a very straight section.. It was surprisingly nice to drive at that speed, the 1200 sedan sits very nicely at a real 120mph. It stays on boost at this speed though, showing the effect of wind resistance on the boxy design...

Using a front airdam is a good idea for higher speed racing.

I'm just wondering how well the old 1200 sedan would steer at 200Km

At my first SCCA race my 1200 did 89 MPH , I used the gearing chart to calculate. This is stock A12 with header and a minor carb rejet. 1200's do rev well so they feel fast , until a shoowrom stock VW golf comes by 10 MPH faster!!! The current motor in the 1200 will actually get it to 112 MPH at a big track like Willow Springs.

Amen brother! I used to have the most fun racing everyone from stoplight to stoplight in George (A-12, 26/28 Weber from a Fiat, header, and four speed). It was a hoot and best of all, you were the only one who knew there was a race on!

I gotta agree with dattodude. 1200 speedos are very inaccurate. The A12 is so much fun and revs up so nice ... it hides the fact of how slow the car really is.

I don't want to disappoint you, but All Datto Speedos are terrible inaccurate over 80mph.

Most 1200s when sitting on 100mph (some do) are only doing about 86mph. The higher the reading the more error.

I had my Coupe dash right round the dial and pushing on the zero needle. I was going downhill with a tailwind.

Are you sure that it wasn't going down a mineshaft with a tail wind
