I actually went and checked his times, best lap at the August PIARC round was 1:49.55.

Now that is a fast time, in fact that second fastest time outright for the event.

If you've got a stocker that can break 2min, you would win best in class by around 12.5 seconds in the under 1600cc standard car class. The current fastest time is held by a Corolla SX 1.6L at 2:12.15

But with upgraded suspension and brakes you might be into modified car class, then you've got to beat 1:55.74

I'm still impressed with anyone who can run under 2min at the Island it is the respect time there, much like 1:30 at Sandown is deserving of respect.

Mildman,
Sub 2 minutes at the island isnt too hot.-
A good stock A12 310 can do that with good handling and brakes.

Doesn't the newcastle rod shop or something like that do kits for this?
The same guys who do the V8 Gemini conversion type things.

I'm not sure though.

if you are going to go to that trouble go the whole hog and get a side on write of series 2 VS with a 3.8 supercharged V6 ecotec then use the diff gbox and the IRS and then you will have a cool car !!!! cos you can then say you have a buick based datsun and not a common hore

So you are going to leave the oem struts in there, with the original brakes too?

What are you planning to do with the front end to account for all that weight?

What sort of gearbox are you planning?
