Cheers!! Oh,yeh, just to keep this datsun oriented, I pulled the A-14-5spd. out of the B-210,fabbed up mounts, and trans.cross member, and it"s in the 1200 coupe.I"m installing the clutch stuff tomorrow, and wiring it up. next-interior. I read you have a 33 dodge coupe?? I have a 34 that I built/drove in high school. It"s been sitting in the family-barn for 21 years, now,(dry storage, still clean) I"ve been thinking of pulling it out,and restoring it for my son. This time, instead of the 300H.P. vette 327-power-glide.,, I"m thinking of modernising it a bit with a newer power plant. My son has me thinking-----fuel injected L-28/5 speed 280 ZX power(PLEASE,dont fly over here and shoot me,It was my son"s idea!! I want to put the 340/A-727 combo I have into it!) Time will tell as to when I get to the ole"girl,as I have 4 more kids to build cars for. Tom S.

Driftindatsun Thanks for your post
Don't appologise, you are not long winded. [check out a recent thread on supersharging for long winded]
I appreciate your thoughts, & you are probably right. Pizpump, & the rest of us, could most likely have benefited if he had been a little more,....ummm, circumspect with his wording. He has come across in an ggressive way, & i have reacted, .... adversely. You & i, & probably most of the people who call this site home, share a common sentiment with your "tools" analogy.

Thanks again
Chris

A technical manual is as important a tool, as my roll-away full of snap-on tools. If Some one rolls their car into my shop, and tells me that "Since you own the tools that will fix my car,you should feel compelled to repair my car for free" I"m going to #1 show them my $ 30,000 worth of reciepts for the tools I bought over the last 6 years(still like new-TAKE CARE OF YOUR TOOLS!!)and then,SMACK THEM IN THE HEAD!! If they drop by and say-Could you help me out,on a problem--etc. Chances are,I"ll give them advice,or look it over for them,no charge.I dont think that pizpump meant to offend you, dodge, but I believe he could have worded his reply differantly,as to not sound Stereotypical,or rude,or even offensive.WhatI"m trying to get at,is YOU payed for the book(tool) it is YOUR decision to post copies, and YOUR"S ONLY! dont feel obligated to do it because some one wants to read it. That"s just my opinion, and if I offended any one over this,GET OVER IT,and enjoy the knowledge you pick up on this fine forum.Sorry for being long winded Tom S.

Let me clarify something.

If i chose to provide the contents of this book [which i don't have yet] it will be done at no cost to anyone. The difficulty is the feeling that i am under attack, that i should feel compelled,... that i have an obligation, to simply hand over something that i paid money for, & i don't like it.

Pizpump
I don't remember you writing something like "Dodgeman, i would be gratefull if you could help by leting me have. etc,....etc."
You seem to think that you have a god given right to benefit from it's purchase, & it doesnt put you in a good light.
Instead, i get the feeling that i should feel bad unless i do what you say. Your words put me in mind of the steriotype shyster who uses a guilt trip to manipulate another person, however, i know you are a solid upright member of this group & you would never do such a thing, & i'm sure that your nickname has no connection with a person obsessed with alcohol consumption.

Buff
I thank you sincerely for your support, you will go onto my Xmas card list.[It's gotta be 'round here somewhere] You are right about the manuals too.

Let me get the book first &, to quote Fatty Vaughn in a beer commercial, "i'll get back to you."

Well, I haven't been on the site too long so I apologize if I offended anyone.

My opinion is that it is ENIRELY up to Dodgeman what information he decides to disclose if he should decide to do so.

I should also mention that so is providing this information on the internet for free (If he were to scan the entire manual).
I don't see the need for you to be singling out Dodgeman as he has given MORE than his share of knowledge to other members over the time I have been on here (Thanks Dodge )
If I was Dodgeman I'd be selectively handing out the info in posts if and when relevant to the information he has.
PizPump - DON'T have a go at people who have provided a great deal of knowledge to the site as there are many people on the site who TAKE TAKE TAKE but no GIVE. Why should they sit back and benefit from one mans purchase of knowledge?
PizPump - Compelled? Compelled?
Mate I'm compelled to do what I please and when I please and so is everyone else.
PS - hey Dodgeman, they won't learn - you can't have too many manuals

However, if my line of thinking is flawed, I will donate money (to offset your cost) to get the manual posted to the site.

For that matter, would you have even known about the auction if "new to datsuns" didn't post the eBay link?

I highly doubt it would have reached such a high price had he not posted the link here.

Dodgeman, you chose to pay an exorbitant amount for the manual. Let me ask you this. What do you feel the information, articles, pictures, etc. contained on this website are worth?

Do you have a paper copy of the suspension manual available (for free) on this website?

Or what about a paper copy of the Nismo catalogue Stirlingmac downloaded to the site?

My guess is you now have information/knowledge available to you (at no charge) that was previously unavailable or extremely difficult to obtain. As such, you should feel compelled to "give back" to the community that has given so much to ALL OF US.

im sure the time dodgeman will take (if he chooses to) to scan every page to his computer then add to this site is worth something.
