hi folks

I looked around the site and cant find any info on a 5 speed into a 1000. I recently aquired a 1000 sedan and ute really cheap with a heap of 1200 parts, including a 5 speed from a late model sunny. The 1000 tunnel is really small, and not too sure if it will go into my current sedan that I am fixing. Anybody done this or is it in the too hard basket.

I have a 60A gearbox in a 1000 coupe. It fits in the transmission tunnel but only just! I had to chop a hole in the floor to give clearance for the clutch operating arm to work and make up a "bulged" metal cover to screw and glue over the hole. If yoy figure out where you need the clearance for this (and the reversing light switch which is also a pretty tight fit) you can beat a bit of a bulge into the floor at the appropriate position. This means fitting the gearbox up and marking where you need the clearance then removing and refitting again after you've done a little panel beating. You'll also have to modify the rear gearbox mount.

if you have the 4 spd one left over I'll take it - unless 1200's and 120y's have the same gearbox in which case I'll get one from there. not too fussed by an extra gear....

I think some people may be trying to take advantage of me andthis 5 speed box....

So just how much panel beating is required to 'make' the box fit??
You said that you cut the tunnel?? not keen on that. bashing the tunnel would be prefered method. So just put it up, mark the spot required, and bash till it fits. Very technicial, but that sounds like what you mean..

will try that.

datto1000ute, yes they do have the same 4 speed, but the belhouseing is different in the 1000. The clutch setup is different i think.
