My A-15 is up an running and goes reasonably well, but it is a bit lumpier than it should be at idle. The wire to the Autochoke and anti diesiling solenoid arent connected, so this is probably a large part of the problem.

Does anyone know where to wire them up to? The original 1200 carby probably didnt have the anti dieseling solenoid and definately didnt have an auto choke, so there are no spare wiring terminals for them.

Also, the fuel rail to the carby has a return line above the supply line that goes back past the fuel pump to the back of the motor. At the moment I have hooked this up to the tank breather line (which normally goes to the air filter) would it be better to just block it off, or would I flood the fuel bowl?

I couldnt find anything in the tech sections about these probs altough I will try removing the guts from the anti deeseling solenoid as someone suggested in a thread on rough running.......

you would be better off throwing the 1500 carb away and use a sunny 1400cc motored carby or use a 32/36 down draft weber adaptor plates are available..

There's nothing wrong with the standard A15 carby if it's set up right. You can connect the anti-dieseling solenoid direct to the coil to make sure it gets power and works as it's supposed to. If you remove the pin out of the middle, the engine will run on a couple of times after you switch off.

If all you do is daily running around, stick with the standard set up.

Cheers snowy, I'm not too sharp on the eletrical stuff, but that makes sense. I pulled the pin out of the solenoid yesterday and it improved things, but Its still pretty lumpy... Could just be the cam Cos I bought it with a freshly built engine, rather than doing it myself, I dont know exactly what the specs are other than "mild cam"... I'll have to talk to the engine builder and see if I can find out. Fortunatley there is a job number on the head so it should be all good. Ive got a set of SU's for it but they are on an L series manifold. They're from a stanza sss I think, the air filter assembly looks like the stock sss setup, ugly and bright orange.

I had the same problem with a ute that I did,I was lucky that although the ute was a pre emission vehicle the guy I bought it off had used a later wiring harness.
The power wire was in the harness that went the wiper motor so that was no real problem, I used to tell my customers (when I still did Honda spares) to cut out the pin in the solonoid.
With the auto choke I agree with the other post that getting a pre emmission carby and also getting it proffessionally rebuilt will make the car run like a dream and to be honest with last two Datsuns that I have rebuilt the engines on I have made sure the carby was done at the same time.
hope this helps
Ade
