Hey guys, i'm wondering what do i need to do when I install a tach into a 1981 Datsun 210 (B310). Where do I wire it to? Is there any specific items i need to buy with the tach to make it work? I'm planning on using an Autometer Autogage tachometer.

Thanks.

Its's as simple as riding a bike . I fyou are buying new then don't worry ,directions come with it .I'ts preety straight forward. The only problem is figureing where to mount the tach. I had a 79 210 and there really isn't a good location for it .good luck

if you could find a b310 coupe they come standard with tacho's,its a simple change over,
you just have to grab the coupe wiring loom.you can even keep the original speedometer to keep the mileage straight.i've done this twice, into a b310 sedan & into a b310
panel van,in fact the panel van got the complete dash set up from an 81 b310,because it was a 79 model.

Well this is what i did, mounted the tach in the far right top air vent (never use it anyway) and its a small one, 52mm, and it fitted in there perfectly!!

I wired one wire to - coil and one to + coil and earthed it, worked fine... Still havent done the lighting as of yet, if i remember there is a spare solinoid down near the cigarette lighter that i can hook it up to yeah??

Theres good places to mount a tach in a B210 (B310) !! The actual cluster's got plenty of room and you can piss off the brake/hand brake lights as you dont need them at all, the center console (lttle comparment in the middle) and down beside the drivers door part, anywhere there would be good.. Or just on the dash in the top right hand corner!
