just going to inform every one that i have recently bought another CA to put into my ute, but there is one problem, the motor it self is from an EXA (in other words FWD) and i noticed that plenium is 'ass about'(throttle boby facing the firewall).
I was wondering if it was possible to swap the position of the end plate and the throttle body face the right way,ie front of the car, so that the accel cable can be mounted properly.

I was told that this is not possibe to do?
has anyone else done this?
are there any dramas in using a FWD CA engine into a dato (RWD)?

CHEERS!

u will find the turbo is facing wrong way as well. but im 99% they are completely interchangable with the RWD model as the ports and studs are the same i duno why u couldnt just buy a rwd plenum and turn the turbo around right way and away u go,

Yeah when i looked at the exhaust manifold i saw that it is completely different than the one in the coupe, so i'm gunna buy an exhaust manifold, i was just wondering if anyone has done it before just trying to save money where i can, you know how it is!( i think everyone would!!!)
I haven't yet pulled all the plenium apart yet but from what i can see i should be alright, just hope the bolts are the same.

I recently replaced my CA with one that was out of a U13 or something.. I just used the plenum and exhaust manifold off the RWD CA and had no dramas..
The only things you will need is a RWD alternator and alternator bracket, the FWD one that came with my engine was a lot different and had a smaller pulley, so i just used my old alternator.
Also i had a small issue with one of the water lines from the turbo, the little block that sticks out of the block for the water line to bolt into faces a different way on the FWD block so i just did some jigging around with the water line and got it to line up..
Other than that there was no real dramas, i expected to have to change my sump to the RWD one but they turned out to be the same...
I dont know anything about using the FWD manifold, but if your planning on using a computer and loom out of a silvia/180sx then i'd make sure all the plugs match up to the FWD sensors/TPS/idle valve etc.. it would be a pain to find a problem with it later on...
Hope that helps..

HEAPS OF HELP!!!!
thanks fellas!

i was only told last night that the motor that i have has little or no compression in number one, but this is coming from someone who doesn't really know that much, he tried to istall the engine himself, into his EXA but somthing happened and he couldn't get it going, and he just blamed the compression i reakon.
I'll keep everyone up to date with my progress.
