Made up a cool aluminium panel that fits under glove box. I've finally got enough space for all the electronics!

Yep, go the press. Essential for strength of such a span. Otherwise I'd have to made it out of 3 or 4mm Aluminium.

The edge was all done by hand. Sharp edge of the bench for long sections then a bit of thick plate in the bench vice and some deft hits with a hammer.

Probably about 15 hours labour in design, prototyping and fit. Lots of sweat so far. I need to shorten the wiring some more too.

I'd like to see another 90 degree bend at the rear of the plate so if the worst was ever to happen; this plate would not become an efficient passenger thigh/knee slicer.

Passengers.. who needs them

I might put a couple more mount bolts at the top edge that connects to the dash, it would crumple in a front ender. I don't envisage too much passenger damage. This is a 1200 though.. I know it's dangerous to begin with, and I'll have all passengers sign a indemnity waiver form before they get a ride

I've thought about the hinge idea, but the stuff up in there doesn't need servicing, so I didn't bother.

Thanks for the tips guys.

As for what do I do for a job..I'm a Unix Storage/Availability Software Tech Support guy. But I've also got the ticket to teach Design and Technology. I'm a jack of all trades pretty much.
