hey guys..just a few questions... which engine would realistically be better an which one would i benefit from... the ca18det or the sr20det which will be put in my 1200 ute..... which one would be best suited to have plenty of power to play with, with out losin traction or havin many down falls, but still being able to haul ass...

and if so, wat do i need to purchase or do to complete either engine conversions???

thankz all

This topic comes up here all the time, there is plenty of reading about engine swaps in the tech section and ca18 conversions on other sites in the links section.

Maddat can supply parts for a ca18 conversion.

I am yet to see a sr20 engine in a street car which is legal or for that matter a sr20 in a street driven 1200.

Starting here would be your best bet.

You have a real problem there. You want plenty of grunt, but you don't want to lose traction in something as light in the rear as a 1200 Ute. That has to be a self contradictory statement.

Heres the deal. A near stock A14 will still be able to break traction in a 1200 Ute. Not as often or for as long as the others, but if keeping traction is important to you, then forget the CA & SR engines as traction with either will be a thing of the past.
