Been wanting to take the Green 1200 coupe down to Mt Cotton for years , so on the weekend it had it`s first event there , 1st run the track was was very damp from pasting showers about 10 mins before the run, so it was a very cautious & slipery run , the next couple of runs the track condtions were good but , i was more concerned with stopping the car without locking tyres at the hair pin with out going in the peanut shells , with a bit of fine tuning on the brake bias towards the rear , the brakes pull up great . On the last run the start was average and the clutch pedal managed to stay stuck on the floor briefly , so it was a slower run ,
My fastest run was the 3rd run @ 45.84sec which was enough to win the class for the day , i recon i could knock another second off the time with a bit of fine tuning to the car and the driver getting to know the track , i was reving the engine to 8000rpm in 3rd and could have changed up a gear out of the corners , but didn`t want to go any faster till i had the brake bias set up correctlly.so there is time to be made in a few areas ,

Good stuff Cam. That's a great time for your first event at Mt Cotton. You really need to do a few hillclimbs in a row there to get the track worked out properly. I reckon you'll be giving the sport sedan record a real shake if you do a few more events.

there's a nice shot of your car in the hairpin here under "Nippon-other" category:

yeah, that thing was a weapon. held the U2L record for quite a while in the high 47s IIRC - something like 47.8???

good news is he's still got it, but doesn't have much time to run it these days from what I hear. I did see him in the results from a hillclimb earlier this year, but from the times it looked as though he was having problems, or maybe the tyres had gone off from sitting too long.

yeah D, I've doen a few hillclimbs with it. My best time is a 46.33. Don't really think I can go much faster in its current setup. Maybe a couple of tenths if I managed to jag the elusive 'perfect run'. If it doesn't sell by then, a set of slicks might be on the agenda next year
