I know that is a fwd datsun, and you guys don`t like them to much, but i got my 100A today and i was thinking give him a better engine! What kind of easy swap beside trusty A12 you think i could do? Maybe a Micra engine with five speeds? Opinions and experiences please.

A14 and A15 will fit but there maybe a problem with bonnet clearance depending on what carby/carbys you use. have a look at the Datsun Owners UK forum for more info heres a link to one of the pages.

Some thing else I forgot to tell you.

There is 2 different sumps for the E10's the A10 one and the A12 one. the A12 has reliefs built into the sump for clearance of the conrods. I have had to modify a A10 sump to so that I can fit a A14 into my car.

the probelm with fitting other engines E15's etc is the gearbox position. the A series has most of the box under the engine near the sump (like a mini) Most other FWD's have the box on the end of the motor making them longer.

There was a pic up of a orange cherry FWD that had a 1200GX motor fitted. Still front dizzy but had a pair of twin hitachi carbs hanging off it. I would imagine that it would fly. (not literally) I think that it was from South America.
