people say that you can use holden red springs in the A series motor. I was running copetition springs CB4A02.(or is it performance springs? I can't remember which is was) Anyway my cam is poked with valvebounce damage, so I want good springs for my next build. I have two mates who work at holden, (one of then works in the parts dept) so I'll be able to get em at trade. Plus I've heard that the springs I was using only have a given life span. I just bought a head with monster inlet valves, and there were a few springs rolling around in the box. They seem to have a very short installed height, and there were some gigantic packing shims in there too.
Anyone have the part number for the holden springs? or do people use the competition springs springs for the holden red motor? (Even Feral reccommended them ages ago)

ALL springs must be checked for tension open,on the seat and for clearance to coil bind.
DO NOT believe spec sheets and catalogs etc.
you must have at least another 0.060" clearance to coil bind.
dual springs are better as they cancel out each others harmonics.
performance springs and crow do some that will fit

I would like to know if A12 GX springs have a life time, I'm suspecting mine.

But I still have no prove.

Seriously considering importing a set from pitroad. You AUS ppl are so fortunate, Yen country is so close, you can jump in the ocean on a Sunday morning and be at home for supper with your new set of springs.

All valvesprings have a life span. If you buzz your engine past 6000 with gay abandon all the time, that span will be much shorter than on a motor that rarely ever goes past 3500.

The inner springs that Yella Terra make for the Holden red motor work well.

Just run the standard datsun outers with these inners and all will be good.

I have a set in my engine, i checked instaled height seat presures and for coil bind etc. and plenty good for 7500rpm+. Done over 100,000 KMs with a 271 deg. cam with no problems.
