hey all,
I brought some z31 inserts to suit my soon to be shortened struts, but it seams the thread on the top of the insert were it goes through the top hat is slightly larger, its not much but it wont fit, is it ok to slightly inlarge the hole? if so id just need to be careful not to round the flat bit that stops it spinning.
all advise appreciated oh and I can get pics if it helps explain

Think you answered your own question there bud. As long as your careful not to over modify the locking edge then all will be good. Thats provided everything else fits bearing spring cap etc. Just curious what struts are you talking about ? Did you get cash for 180b hubs ?

Yep, top hat is small diameter for the strut. Z31 struts are too big.

Yes, some people drill out the bearing in the top hat.

Others fit different strut inserts.

If you're using 1200 or 120Y strut tops, you can use Sunny or Stanza strut tops as they're the same size as 200B inserts. If you're using the Sunny/Stanza tops already, you should carefully file out the top to fit the thread. I know somebody who machined down the thread on a 200B insert & cut the same thread as a 1200 insert.
