This is more a request for expressions of interest, but we'll see how it goes.

ITEM: Heavily Worked GX Head

CONDITION: Used - reconditioned recently.

REASON FOR SELLING: Need funding for better bike carbs!

PRICE AND PRICE CONDITIONS: Open to Offers

EXTRA INFO:

It has been fully reconditioned about a month ago, I have the receipt here.

Running single race springs pressing about 110lbs (shut), I also have the inner springs available, paired up the springs (inner + outter) press about 150lbs shut.

I'd be willing to include a head shim, it's a stock item that will need machining down to suit your compression ratio (I can do this for you if you know what thickness/ratio you want).

In saying that the compression chambers cc at 20 straight, so obviously it's had a fair bit milled off.

It has oversize stainless steel valves, stock valve spring seats and aluminium valve spring retainers.

I will sell the head bare for a cheaper price.

Intakes are 38mm and exhaust is 33mm..... is that bigger than stock? I can't remember. I had 33 & 29 in mind for stock GX but I can't be sure now. Lets confirm that before I sell it as oversize.

What carbs am I getting? Dunno....cheap ones!! Certainly not FCRs too much money

EDIT: Just thought I'd ad that if you have some pistons with some decent dish in them (7cc+ maybe as low as 5cc) this head will go straight on without the need for a head shim.

EDIT, EDIT: Sorry not switched on today - the ports are also larger than stock;

Intake: 32 wide 40 tall
Exhaust: 28 wide 30 tall

Thanks mate, hopefully it all works out.

Willing to negotiate on staggered payments, over a few weeks to members that I know?

Let me know what you have in mind. I'm considering all offers really.

Chris

I'm looking for a good offer, as for ball park figure well that's hard to answer really. Here's a breakdown of costs.

Recondition: $300.

Brad New Race Springs: $200.

Retainers: $100.

GX Head: $$$?

Head Port Work: $$?

Oversize Valve installation: $?

Send me an offer and we'll go from there. Obviously I'm not expecting crazy figures but you must understand the costs involved, so I won't sell it for peanuts. If I get a good offer I'm pretty lenient on taking payments over a few weeks.

If it doesn't sell I'll simply put aside for when I get my engine rebuilt with some dished pistons.

Feel free to send me a PM.

The head has been sold, pending further negotiation.

In case the sale falls through, please remember this is an old race head that has been milled significantly. People seem to forget the fact that it either needs to go hand in hand with some dished pistons or a head shim or decompression plate. Lots of 'will it fit' questions rather than 'will it suit'.

Dished pistons provide a better combustion envelope as it vaguely matches the combustion chamber (squish etc), as opposed to a running a shim plate which isn't quite as good (basically a cheaper way to obtain relevant comp ratios if you are stuck with flat top pistons).

For those still hovering over the brink of indecision, here are some more pictures. I am still waiting on a response from another gentleman, so in the meantime here are some of the pictures I sent to him.

Please send me offers if you are still interested.

The head shims aren't quite ready, I will most likely send that later.

I also have available the twin weber/dellorto/solex match ported manifolds (+ Tomei Manifold Gasket only used for a few hours). These manifolds have a nice angle on them, the roof of the manifold runners match the angle of the head port work so they create a semi-downdraught flow into the combustion chamber.
