hey all so i know we got a lot of members from the states on here, i figure some of you may have some handy hints and advice. maybe even a few of us aussies have something to say also :) so on the 2nd of june next year im gonna fly into san fran, spend a week or two over there and then i wanna drive across to NY. thinking of maybe buying a car over there (wagon or van so i can sleep in it haha) or renting i guess, and making the trek across to the big apple. i've found a few basic run throughs of the best ways to do it etc, but for someone with pistons on the brain is there anything i should be looking at? i dont need to be back down under until the 22nd of july so i've got some time, figure i'll spend the full 7 odd weeks there. also im currently at art school and love doing drawings of buildings, engines etc etc, anything detailed with lots of lines, almost why im going to NY really haha cheers!

Near SF is Laguna Seca and Sonoma raceway, it would also be a shame to miss the redwoods if you were that close. The US has tons of car culture especially California with lowriders, hotrods, tuners, drifters, ratrods, concours, not to mention the drag scene, circle track ect. ect. Have fun, and welcome!

June 9-10 is the largest Datsun meet in the USA, only 500 miles north of San Francisco, just come straight up I-5 to get there.

Yes, that's the Canby meet. Laguna Seca is now named Mazda Raceway. You can take a driving class there -- zoom, zoom

to canby it is! thinking i'll cruise route 66 for a bit, i've got a good 7 weeks to kill so i'll see where i get taken, i foresee a lot of driving. which is why i'm thinking maybe of buying a cheap car so that rental costs dont kill me, nothing flash (i mean my weekend car is a datsun and my daily is a van, not exactly used to the high life haha) just moderately reliable and room to sleep so van or wagon. are cars like this cheap in the states? driving course may blow my noodles budget out for a bit, but i really do wanna cut some laps, maybe i should buy a 1200 (or even a 1000!) wagon and rip it up :) for all those concerned, it will be kept in immaculate condition, i dont think i have it in me to buy a datsun, use her for 2 months and crush her little soul
