sooo been reading a lot of this topic and could collect some info. want to know if anyone has done this, will i have to do it?? well i will do it, my ae86 diff is shortened so will try the h165 axels on it because i have one ae86 broken axel they are very uncommon and expesive in here so will try it with 1200 ones, not right now but some day (near) does anyone has some more info to share??????????????
Last I checked, Pit Road carries the H165 part (LSD Nismo P/N 38420-RS110). See H165
Pitroad sells a brand new LSD for the H165B axle (1985-up Sunny Truck) for about $1200 USD. It is from TRD (Toyota Racing Development) and is a bolt in when using the AE86 ring gear bolts. Pitroad H165 LSD or TRD
You can also buy the AE86 LSD (PN 41301-TA005) direct from TRD, be aware however that this is untested, and probably won't fit most H165 carriers. About $850 USD

I do not like the conversion as you would need to machine down the bearing carriers so much to fit the Datsun bearing that there would be not enough metal left.
ill try it this way
(A better way is to get Datsun axel tubes welded to a sprinter diff centre housing. you would run a full TRD/Sprinter centre and gear ratios but still use H165 axels. getting the housing changed is also a easer job than modifying the centre.)

so... i got the 1200 housing and both axels, tested them in my ae86 shortened housing and lsd diff, they fit!!!!! also the ae86 bearings are bigger but i can use 1200 ones cause they have the same diameter outside the only problem is the shaft seal, it is not the same cause ae86 axels have bigger diameter, i have to figure out witch one will i use, will update on next weekend cause don't have time right now
cheers from Dominican Republic :)

Nice work!
AE86 came with a couple of different rear axle assemblies, which one are you working with? Year and model? T281 or T283?
