My recently-purchased 120Y had undergone a semi-restoration. Basically removed panels, paint, etc. The ID plate in the engine compartment was removed and replaced with screws. I'm wondering if they were riveted on, originally. Thanks

I just removed my ID plate (not the Australian compliance plate) from my 1200 sedan ... it was riveted on but not with pop rivets - they were solid

Sedans were built in Aus, but all japan-built 1200s I've seen had the id plate screwed on.

all I can say is that mine (in early sedan) was held in with solid rivets ... took it off with the grinder last week

Thanks for the info. My buddy just dropped off his rivet gun. To rivet or not to rivet. Hmm. Time for a beer.
