...after the "you first car" thread...

is there a car you almost bought that you wish you did??

Mine is from when I was an apprentice, this pink GTR came in for something minor on friday afternoon, it was from a used car yard close to the dealership, I decided over the weekend I was keen for it, but when i went to look at it on Monday the GTR steering wheel and the Two barrel Carb and manifold had been swapped out for base model torana stuff, I was grumpy so left it..
I was keen because, it was a good stock GTR, not upgraded to an XU-1 clone,
not sure I would have been keen on keeping it Pink though....

Imagine now, GTR, not cloned to an XU-1 and in the rarest colour of all, 9 GTR's, 15 XU-1's... ho hum...
now I have read, one of the Prototype V8 XU-1's was a Strike me pink GTR, and that car ended up in Perth...

there's one I owned I wish I hadn't sold... paid $800 for it. Absolutely rust free body and a 4.4l P76 alloy V8 with steel case Supra 5spd. Back then 240Ks were considered the ugliest of all Datsuns and were worth absolutely nothing! How times change...

1960s 250se coupe with 6.9L engine conversion sticks me in the guts

Harry thats a slant 8 :) done like that to miss the brake bits?

1 immaculate 240k coupe in olive a metallic olive green sat
fresh at pick a part and they refused to sell it whole cause it was a
council collected car and chassis plates removed.
It looked new and was from a deceased estate but sat on a
public road and wreckers rules/wanted no part in selling it :(

This would make a unique drifter

back then my old L18 1200 coupe was in full swing. When I bought the 240K at the start of 2003 I was in the middle of fitting the flares to the 1200 to clear the fat 13" superlites, and fitting 240Z 1-2-3 gearset into my stumpy 5spd.

and later that year I got the roll cage done

Then at the end of the year we were swapping a mate's L18/20 stroker and close ratio gearbox into the car for the 2004 season. I was fully occupied with the 1200 track car project, so the 240K sat in the carport in the backyard for about 18months untouched. And like I said, back then they were not considered in the least bit desirable. I've always been into the less popular Datsuns though.

The V8 was leant over so the extractors cleared the steering box. That was one of the things I planned to change... I hate to think what it would be worth now! lol Even in that condition, let alone if I had painted it and thrown some fat wheels on it and stuff. It was definitely the one that got away.

That 240k I mentioned was definitely a one owner with
all the books in the dash service history and me wanting
a replica GT since I was in Jap since 1996 and that was
not even a chance as the Bogan master of PAP did not see
its value even snickered at jap crap.

Just not 2 years ago a sunny coupe was offered for free
and you should see what they are worth in jp now!

Should have bribed the bastard with money on the side to
help his ailing early 90s holden chariot.

look how many this guy has for a rainy day
