Hi friends, this is a Nissan vanette van 1990 with A15 petrol engine ignition coil get very hot and stop the engine. check the voltage it shows 13.5 between ignition coil + wire to engine block while idling. check the ballast resistor it's fine but voltage not dropping on engine running. where should be the fault? advice is appreciated.

Fault is in the wiring

* COIL+ should be connected only to one side of ballast
* same side of ballast is also connected to S terminal of ignition switch
* other side of ballast is connected to I terminal of ignition switch

I would disconnect the 2nd wire on the ballast and test again

In your photo, A & D are together. I think D should go with C. Give it a try

A & B was connected to the resistor witch has rubber caps those wires are not long enough to the coil location, looks like original setup to the coil?
