I think after seeing the wheelstanding Bakkie from South Africa, which is powered by a Mitsubishi Engine..I think..

Record Bakkie

I guess we can still respect good engineering. And at least the body is 1200.

I don't like to encourage these frankensteins.. but having something different is what it's all about.

Being an enthusiast is about being different to the mainstream. Some people have the right to think that staying Datsun/Nissan is too "mainstream" for them.

If it makes you feel better, my Dad's Toyota AE86 Sprinter has a SR20DET

Chris.

Yep definately a hard topic this one..............
I personally would like to keep my rebuild all Nissan/Datsun, but thats just a personal preference this time around, so most of what I discuss on here is directly 1200 related.
HOWEVER

I also have a lot of time for those guys out there squeezing all sorts of weird and wonderful things in their engine bays, and much respect should be given to them to achieve what they do.
Vince Rigoli's Fiat powered ute a perfect example. It puts us ute guys on the map, and when you see it fly down the quarter who cares whats under the bonnet she's still a tough little Datsun. The man hours and money poured into it would scare the crap out of you I'd imagine.

I've thought about a 13B Turbo many a time, the only thing stopping me this time round is to be perfectly honest I don't have a lot of experience in the rotary engine field - otherwise I'd be buzzing around by now ...............with MadTimo trying to keep up

Yes, I do agree that this is a Datsun 1200 site, but to close your eyes and not risk change is not being realistic either.
Personally, I loved the a12 in my car-lots of power, revved freely, lots of fun to drive.
I used the engine I did because a) i had it,and b)why not? All my buddies think I'm the king now. In my area, there may be 3 or 4 1200's around anyway!
Even the Datsun guys I know personaly like it. B.T.W. -I really hate Toyota bodies. Yuk.
